Great Day Educators,
Well everything has fallen into place, the National Renewable Energy Lab in Colorado is coming back to enlighten us on another form of Renewable Energy you can share with your students and have "Hands On Activities" with them.
Wind is becoming an energy source for the future. The cost of building and maintaining turbines are less than the cost of conventional coal or gas fired power plants. The increase cost of fossil fuels make wind even more inviting because the future cost of wind supplies will not increase!
Mr. Rick Shin from NREL will be here Oct 18th
for the teacher workshop.
1. The lessons is flexible enough for ES, MS, and HS
teachers.
2. All teachers will
receive a "Wind Turbine Kit"
3.
Use of wind speed meters, power converters, and volt meters
4. Insight to wind turbine design and
efficiency will be covered
5. Application of lesson for all grade levels will
be covered
6. Curriculum meets and
exceeds New Mexico State Standards.
We will kick off the day here at M&O conference room (bldg. 915) at 8:00. Please talk to your principal about attending and they allow the "Energy Workshop" to be Professional Development for you. In return, the APS Energy STARS Program will provide funds back into your schools budget.
We will also provide you your wind turbine kits, a light breakfast snacks, refreshments, and lunch. The workshop will be over by 3:00.
Please contact me by the 13 of Oct to reserve your seat.
